When idols die

Even though I myself aren't a Michael Jackson fan I can still see it as a big loss when a person like that dies. Someone that has been an idol for millions. And the other day it happened again when Patrick Swayze passed away due to cancer.

In a world where celebreties are everywhere, of course it means more when we loose them. They aren't just a flicker on the screen, even if we don't care the media will gladly let us know the color of their boxershorts and what they had for breakfast. Quite a few also reach outside their own little corner of the public world. They go into politics, collect money for the poor, they are the faces for makeup and clothes as well as the UN.

I been thinking about it before, and I can't really imagine a world with no Sean Connery. No Clint Eastwood. No Anthony Hopkins. Even though both MJ and Swayze died young it feels like it has slowly started. The passing away of the big ones. The ones you grew up watching. I guess todays star will mean as much to the kids in 10-20 years. But somehow I can not compare the likes of Shia LaBeouf and (yes, I know I am a fan but still) Robert Pattinson the the amazing acting of Connery and Hopkins.

About mr Swayze though. Even I am a Dirty Dancing fan, that isn't what I feel like watching. I need to re-watch The Outsiders!

Over and out
