Emergency room visit

So I did survive seven days in a row with work. It was rather nice actually, tireing of course but still. Last evening did not go like we had planned however. We had not planned for a taxi ride to the emergency room but that was what happened.
Thomas had the worst asthma attack I have ever seen him have, it was terrible. He could barely speak, just gasping for breath. Luckily things went very fast once we got into the ER. Within five minutes he was in a room and they started listening to his breating and heart and taking the first tests. Soon they gave him some really strong medicines to inhale and he could finally breathe again. I was in tears, I think that is quite natural for a wife when she sees her husband like that, but he of course thought I was a silly girl. He is often very wrong tho so I do not care!
Once we got out from the ER the last busses had stopped going, luckily mom lives close to the hospital so called her (and woke her up) and she made us tea and then fixed beds for us. I do love my mom. She is always there when you need her!
Feels wonderful that Thomas have medicine now, and doctors appointment on tuesday.

Today (well, yesterday now considering it is past midnight) is dads birthday. He turned 65. So we went over to his place. Not a big deal you might think? Dad and me havent spoken for around 1.5 years so it was very special for us. Dad has a way of ignoring things tho, "if we don't speak about it, it never happened" so we never mentioned how long it has been since we spoke.

Today/yesterday was also mine and Thomas 4th engagement anniversary. We got engaged on Halloween. Of course. Felt a bit strange spending all the day with dad, but we got alot of hugging and snuggling done aswell. And soon it is 5 years since we first met (yeah yeah, I know. We got engaged pretty fast...). Time moves on quick.

Aion - The Tower of Eternity

So yesterday I totally forgot to write anything here? Why you may ask... well, I blame this little thing called Aion - The Tower of Eternity. Open beta started and I been trying it out. At first it lagged out like hell, guess a few more wanted to try than they expected to. I know some Swedish stores ran out of pre-order keys even.
Later on the lag settled enough so it was fun to play. Really fun! But I dont know, it might be only because it is a new thing and I have been playing WoW for quite some time now. Or, it might just be really good. At least it is really good looking! Ofc I totally forgot about taking screenshots, so will just post some pics from their homepage. I am lazy that way.

The game looks good on my computer, but I still want a new one so I can push up the effects. Anyone want to buy  me a computer? Please?

Today I work, first day in the cash registry so fun to try something new. Only too bad it started on the Aion beta, but I will play when I come home. And Thomas can try it out during the day. I really been looking forward to trying something new at work so I am really happy about it!

Party?

I think I am getting old. Yesterday we were out with work, first bowling and then food and after that I went over to Jonna and Sven. Got in bed aroun 2.30 or so and slept until noon.. and even so I fell asleep again in the afternoon and slept another 3 hours. What is it with me? Usually I wake around 7-8am even if I been out drinking but like I said, I think I am getting old!

So, bowling. I am kinda bad at it... and with kinda bad I mean that I really suck. Also, there is something with doing stuff like that in bigger groups that I just don't like. Whenever it is time to split into teams I will always end up alone. Was same last night even though I actually tried to get a team myself just to prevent it. In the end I got to play, but I don't know... it felt a bit like a pitty thing. It felt like high school all over again, and sometimes I do wonder why it always is like that. All the "group" essays I ended up doing myself. All the times I was he odd woman out. Even though I did like the bowling at the end, that part did ruin it abit. High school is a time of my life I really can live without remembering. At least it makes me realise why my friend base is pretty small. I do not like people to pitty me. I do not like to not know if people want to be with me, or just do it to be nice or because they did not have a choice. And isn't this just a depressing little story? See, this is why parties really aren't my thing.

Books - the joy of my life

The other week I heard one of the most depressing comments ever, it was a collegue that mentioned library cards and another one said "do people still got those?".

Why are books out of fashion? Why would people not have library cards? Why is it considered nerdy to read? It makes me sad that people do not read. That people do not understand the wonder that is the written word. Mankinds greatest achievment! I tried to explain my love for books to Dominic, and the silly boy (yes, you were silly!) wonders why I dont read e-books. Those are not books, it is just words on a screen. Books should smell, and the way they feel in your hands.

Sadly enough you can see this neglection of books everywhere and it really annoys me. Books are such a wonderful thing, small doors to other worlds and with some imagination they can give you so much more than a movie ever can. Even book stores are not the same anymore, it is too much papers and pens and things like that. It is almost like the books have been put in the background. I loved the big book stores in London where you entered and you could feel the dry, dusty air. You could smell the paper and ink in the air. That is heaven to me, pure heaven.

Something with books just makes me happy. Cuddling up in the corner of my sofa with a nice book. Feel the dry paper under my fingers. It relaxes me. I could not live without my books. If the choice would ever be between my books and my computer, I would gladly throw my computer out.

It makes me sad that people dont see how wonderful books are. How much they can bring to you. How many worlds you can visit by just picking up a book. Damnit people, start to read!

Cake buffet

Today me and Thomas went to visit a little café in town that got a cake buffet every day. It is silly cheap, only 49 SEK (around €4,60) for cake buffet and coffee/tea/soda. It is very much worth it I would say, plus the people working there are really nice.

It was really nice to go out and do something like this, we also bought with us a Focaccia to have together with the soup we made today, but that one I forgot to take pictures of. It was not really my taste however, bread should not taste onion and salt.

We just finished watching Ice Age 3 - Dawn of the Dinosaurs. It was kinda funny, but not really a good movie. And why call it "dawn of the dinosaurs"? It is not like it was the start of the dinosaurs, now was it?

I had planned for a long post today about something dear to me, but I do not got it in me today. Will save it for tomorrow, or some other day and let my readers be curious (yes, I like to think that they care).

True Blood

So I finally got around to watching True Blood. I have pondered it for quite some time, but with the way swedish media drool all over Alexander Skarsgård I was almost fed up with it even before I watched it. Knowing myself tho I guess I should have seen this comming... I really like it!

I have one thing to complain about, all the sex scenes. Do I really need to see the breasts of every girl in the show? Although I should admit some of the breasts are really nice but I do not see the point of it. I think there is between 1-4 sex scenes in every episode and I honestly think it should be doable to do good television without that. And now I do sound like a total prude and I aren't. But I prefer porn if I want to see sex, at least then I get to see the pink! In TV shows it just seems like an easy solution to get more viewers. But I guess since it is apparently working I can see why they do it.

I find it interesting that people compare True Blood with Twilight. Twilight is a teen book after all, even though we are many grown ups that like them and True Blood apparently is very much for grownups. But I guess we are back in the same vampire hysteria we had after Interview with the Vampire. Now you need to compare everything with vampires to everything else with vampires. I find it a bit silly, you do not compare every action movie with every other action movie after all. And yes, I am a bit touchy about vampires. And I do giggle at all the people jumping on the flavor of the month train. I been into vampires since I was 14, that does not mean I would run screaming after Robert Pattinson or something like that. Not all of the vampire fans are total nutcases.

And now I can feel myself start to ramble so I will close this down for now... and go watch more True Blood.

Crayfish

So I have been lazy at writing here, reason being crayfish night and work weekend. Trust me, not that much happen during work weekends so really quite boring to write about.

However, I think I should share some pictures from the crayfish "party" just because, well, it is almost as swedish as midsummer!

As seen here we played some Trivial Persuit after the crayfish, it is always a nice way to pass time. Even more so when me and Jonna are the ones winning it all!

It is fun how everyone keeps asking me if I have gotten the swineflu whenever they hear then I have been sick. Really gus, you are oh so funny! However, I do plan to vaccinate myself for it. I get miserable and whiny and pouty from your regular cold. No one would want to see me with the swineflu. When I got this last flu, I was really thinking "Oh typical, I am sure I got the swineflu!". I am such an optimist. Hopefully I can stay healthy until I can get the vaccine.

Did I mention I have returned to WoW? I did... it is loads of fun and screenshots will be incomming someday soon!

See my vest

Not that I plan to write about fashion, but this one thing I actually need to comment on because... well, it made me laugh out loud when I saw it. Apparently this autumn furry vests are in style.

See my vest (<- youtube link)

Some men hunt for sport,
Others hunt for food,
The only thing I'm hunting for,
Is an outfit that looks good...

See my vest, see my vest,
Made from real gorilla chest,
Feel this sweater, there's no better,
Than authentic Irish setter.

See this hat, 'twas my cat,
My evening wear - vampire bat,
These white slippers are albino
African endangered rhino.

Grizzly bear underwear,
Turtles' necks, I've got my share,
Beret of poodle, on my noodle
It shall rest,

Try my red robin suit,
It comes one breast or two,
See my vest, see my vest,
See my vest.

Like my loafers? Former gophers -
It was that or skin my chauffeurs,
But a greyhound fur tuxedo
Would be best,

So let's prepare these dogs,
Kill two for matching clogs,
See my vest, see my vest,
Oh please, won't you see my vest

And if you have not guessed my point of view... they are so ugly and I just can not get how people can willingly dress in something like that.

Open season on Twi-hards?

Lately something has annoyed me. Peoples eagerness to trash Twilight infront of me. No one that knows me can have missed that I am a fan. But honestly, I am getting pretty damn tired at defending myself. Why the bloody hell should I have to defend myself?

"Hehe, but Annie likes Twilight so that shows her taste in movies"
"How can you like that crap? Worst movie ever!"
"Please explain how you can like that stupid movie!"
"Aren't you too old to be a Twilight fan?"
"What? You like Twilight? Thats embarassing..."

And so on, I think I heard them all by now. Even from Thomas but he stopped when he saw it really upset me. Why can't people just accept it? Is it really annoying you guys that much?
I don't get half the things other people like, but I don't go questioning it to their faces so why is it there is open season on Twi-hards? Everyone also seems to think they are amusing or something when they comment about it. Really though, it gets boring after a few months.

I love Twilight. I love New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn aswell. Hell, I even loved what little of Midnight Sun that has been published. I am so eager for the movies. But as to explain why I love them? I cant, I don't want to and I shouldn't have to. Only time I force people to talk about it is when some idiot tells me how bad they are without even having watched the movie or read any of the books. Other than that I keep my Twilight talk to fellow Twi-hards.

There, now I got that off my chest. So in the future if you wanna make fun of Twilight and its fans, do it infront of someone else!

TV shows

It is still about a month left to all my wonderful TV shows start again. I am really itching to get back to watching it all again. And while I am waiting, I will discuss some of the shows I follow.

How I met your mother
Thanks to Mattias for showing me this one. I know I didnt quite trust you at start but thanks for forcing me to watch it :P Barney is my absolut favorite. If you haven't checked this out you so should. It kicks Friends ass!

The Big Bang Theory
Amazingly funny, and terribly nerdy. But then I have always had a soft spot for nerds, I guess that comes with being a gamer.

House
Thomas will probably kick me for saying this, but I am actually getting a bit bored with this one. Mostly its too predictable, you almost know the second he will figure it all out by himself.

Supernatural
Oh, now this one I am ashamed I didn't find earlier. And yes Luke, I know you told me time and time again.. I was being stubborn. It's a girl thing. Sadly tho last season wasn't as creepy as the first one but I still got big hopes for the next one. I like scary, creepy stuff that makes me sit and hug a pillow in a bright lit room.

Criminal Minds
This one is the best one. Seriously. At least for someone like me that have been fascinated with serial killers for years. It's always been the psychology the gets to me, how can people be so... bad? And of course the big question, are people born bad or is it their surroundings and upbringing that brings out the bad? The hardest episodes to watch are those were you feel compassion for the killer. Oh, just thinking about it I want to re-watch episodes! I want this one back now! In this show I got my biggest favorite easily picked out, sweet wonderful SSA Dr. Spencer Reid. Once again, this might be my love for the nerdy types talking. I so do prefer brains over brawn

Dexter
First time I tried to watch Dexter I turned it off in 10 minutes. I am terribly sorry for that! Second time I watched the entire episode and then went to fetch husband to watch it again and we have been addicted ever since. The world's most charming sociopath me thinks. Even though I sometimes want to slap him really hard, mostly so when he hurts wonderful little Rita whom I totally adore!

Now with all this said, I think I will go dig out some old Criminal Minds episodes and re-watch. One month to go... it is too much! Too much I tell you!

Murder she wrote...

The book I am reading at the moment is a swedish book about Jack the Ripper. It is abit strange to write a swedish book about him, but on the other hand it might be good for some books to be written by someone totally on the outside and not some patriot. So why you wonder do I read this? Well, I actually am very fascinated with serial killers.

Now that should be a warning sign, right?

So why do I like reading about things like that? Why do I have several True Crime books? It is not the blood and the gore that gets me, its the psychology behind it all. Right now I am quite fascinated with child murderers. Hence the question the other day about Boy A. I am about to re-read a book about Mary Bell that is very interesting
I would want to buy more books along these lines. Although child murderers there aren't that many books about but I would also want to read more about Jeffrey Dahmer, Charles Manson,  John Wayne Gacy and many more. Now you know what to get me for my birthday!

Of course, with Jack the Ripper there isn't that much about the psychology for the easy reason that the killer is unknown. It would have been interesting to know what could cause a person to do the crimes he did. And even more, how many murders were actually done by Jack? Were there copy cats active aswell?

See, it is fascinating! This is why I am such a fan of Criminal Minds!

Pancakes

My husband is very much in love with american pancakes, but I have never been happy with the ones I have made. They just havent been fluffy. But then I got a brilliant idea, getting the recipe from an american! I know, its just the best idea ever, I wonder why I didn't think about it earlier.

So thanks to Amanda (whom I met on FarmTown, go go Facebook) I got a new recipe and today I tried it out. And oh my, there were fluffy indeed. We thought for a long time what to serve them with, Amanda suggested bacon and syrup but now that's just a bit too american for me. So we went for syrup and nuts. And it was yummy!

So thank you Amanda for this recipe! It was amazing! Who knows, sooner or later I might even try it with bacon!

Heading out soon, off with mother to the cinema to watch the swedish comedy Sommaren med Göran. And maybe a glass of wine or two after. Tomorrow I work, long day. This weekend is the final days of Media Markts 30 anniversary so we are expecting alot of costumers. That will be loads of fun, it is much nicer to work when you got something to do.

Gym

Started with workout today again. I feel like such a good girl. I guess I should show what the "gym" looks like aswell. It's just a room in the basement of the appartment complex where I live. Was a spare room so we (the owners of the appartments) decided to turn it into a mini-gym.

As seen here it isnt much, but its something. At least it beats having to pay to use some big gym with loads of nastily fit people showing off their muscles!

Lindö

Today we decided not to stay indoors in the heat. I think that was a pretty smart plan of us to be honest. So we made yummy turkey sandwiches, packed loads of water, blankets, cookies, books, magazines and some crosswords and went out to Lindö. That is an area just outside of town, with forest, water an adorable café and, as we found out, loads of gnat.

Halfway there Thomas goes "did you bring the camera?"... ofc I didn't. Me remembering things? Can anyone really see that happening? So todays pictures are taken with my cellphone and are pretty bad. That's not only the cameras fault though, I am actually a really bad photographer!

Picture taken from the gnat filled shadow
In the sun to avoid the gnats (didn't work)

First we tried to keep to the cooler shadows but we soon noticed that it was impossible to breathe without inhaling gnats. Then we moved out into the sun, it did help a little. A very little. Some animals are a bit prettier tho so I had to take a picture of this Small Tortoiseshell butterfly.

I spent most of my time with my nose over my beloved crosswords and as usual Thomas couldn't keep off although he doesn't really have the patience for it all the time. I find them relaxing, when I aren't getting stuck because then I only feel stupid.

All cookies and sandwiches eaten, loads of water gulped down and it was time to head back home. I did make a little detour to get some hair dye and now I am sitting waiting for my hair to dry so I can see how the new colour turned out. I only dye in some red to my normally brownish black hair, gives it a nice shimmer.

Thomas is finally caving in, I so knew that would happen. He is about to start World of Warcraft again. I am proud to say I think I will last a bit longer. Altho I guess I might return if my days gets too boring. Or I just spend the money buying more crosswords instead. That is a plan...

Day one

So I might aswell start this with a little presentation, incase anyone finds their way here and doesn't know me. Not likely that will happen but all the same...

My name is Andrea, even tho most people (relatives not included) call me Annie. I am married to Thomas and we live with our two cats Terris and Emeriss.

Today was yet another hot day in Sweden and dear mom thought it was a good day for cleaning. Luckily the "cleaning" took around 30 minutes. Rest of the time we spent sipping wine and talking.
I know you shouldnt complain about sunny weather but honestly, when you are stuck in town in this kind of heat you are bloody allowed to whine and bitch and complain! I really aren't too fond of this "melting" feeling. I reallt don't mind the heat if its a bit windy and if I can be outside in the shadow somewhere. Tomorrow I think we will go out to Lindö and spend some hours down by the water just relaxing. It's nice to have a few days to just enjoy the summer. And maybe even get a tan, as a latina I kinda look... beige... if I don't get a nice tan.
