Dean Koontz's Frankenstein
As some of you already know, I love Dean Koontz. There is just something with his books. The way he write, the way he can mix humour, thriller, romance, action and pretty much everything else and make it work. Today I want to raise the flag for his take of Frankenstein.
In these books we get to meet with Frankenstein's monster (you do know that the monster isn't called Frankenstein, right?) although he now calls himself Deucalion. This story is set in present time New Orleans where Deucalion teams up with detectives Carson O'Connor and Michael Maddison to battle the forces of his old maker, Victor Frankenstein, who now calls himself Victor Helios.
I will not go in more to the books, I hope that people will find out themselves this wonderful author and the amazing things he can create.

Movies I love even though people think they are crap!
.................1....................................2.....................................3....................................4................
- So I am a Shyamalan fan. And I loved The Happening! I can't really understand why these movie became so hated. It has some seriously cool and brutal scenes it is creepy, and it got Zoey Deschanel! What ever can be wrong with that? I really did like this movie, I also liked Lady in the Water even though everyone else seem to hate this movie. I am very much looking forward to The Last Airbender!
- Tremors came in 1990, but it still have the feel of the 80's B-movies. And I love it! The "graboids" of course looks silly with todays CGI effects but this movie still rock! I have not watched the sequels, no idea if they are any fun. But first one was superfun and (at least I thought so when I was like 15) kinda creepy.
- Starship Troopers! Well, ok, alot of the people I know love this movie aswell but then... alot of the people I know are strange. I do love this movie. I watch it at least once a year. Its brilliant, funny, over the top and has alot of disgusting goo. And above everything, it has Neil Patrick Harris! Wonderful, funny, cute and sadly gay NPH!
- Well, I am a huge Twilight fan. And I have been very much teased for it. And to the teasers I say, gtfo! The book is better than the movie, but I do love the movie aswell. Robert Pattinson is just wonderful, and the first time he speaks still melts my heart. I know it is silly, but sillyness is very underrated!
I couldn't come up with a 5th movie. At least not one I am prepared to tell the world that I like!

Hacked WoW - but no swine flu!
So the last few days have been busy. Sunday. 4 hour long workmeeting followed by dinner. Alot of stuff got said, some things didn't get said but overall I hope for improvement but I guess only time will tell. Since we will get a new boss in two months it will be interesting what happens after that.
Monday evening when I got home I realised my WoW account gotten hacked. I guess I should be happy it havent happened earlier but loosing 16k gold + loads of mats + gear is a bit of a yawn. Right now account is suspended while they are investigating. Its a fun thing though, I aren't even half as upset as I thougt I would be. The thing that annoyed me the most was that the bloody hacker messed up my UI a bit and it took me ages to remember where I used to have my spells. Ah well, I think it will work itself out, I just want my account back!
Today me and Thomas went to get our vaccinations against the swine flu. We are both in what is considered "risk groups" so we thought we should be smart and get it.
It amazes me how stupid some people are about this, here in Sweden a big part of the youth thinks that one of the side effects of the vaccine is that your fingers grow longer. Also, alot of Swedes seem scared that the vaccine contains alot of mercury. Oh yes, its loads and loads... one dose contains about as much mercury as half a portion of fish. Oh noes, how ever will we survive that?
People, honestly! Read up before you go cry cry about it. I am happy I got the vaccination, even tho my arm hurts a bit if I move it certain ways. But hey, there is a solution to that aswell... I try to not move it the ways that hurt! Oh my, I am smart! S-M-R-T!
Will get the injection in 3-4 weeks. I think it is for the best, I get whiny as hell from an ordinary flu. I don't even wanna know what I would be like with the swine flu.

Emergency room visit
So I did survive seven days in a row with work. It was rather nice actually, tireing of course but still. Last evening did not go like we had planned however. We had not planned for a taxi ride to the emergency room but that was what happened.
Thomas had the worst asthma attack I have ever seen him have, it was terrible. He could barely speak, just gasping for breath. Luckily things went very fast once we got into the ER. Within five minutes he was in a room and they started listening to his breating and heart and taking the first tests. Soon they gave him some really strong medicines to inhale and he could finally breathe again. I was in tears, I think that is quite natural for a wife when she sees her husband like that, but he of course thought I was a silly girl. He is often very wrong tho so I do not care!
Once we got out from the ER the last busses had stopped going, luckily mom lives close to the hospital so called her (and woke her up) and she made us tea and then fixed beds for us. I do love my mom. She is always there when you need her!
Feels wonderful that Thomas have medicine now, and doctors appointment on tuesday.
Today (well, yesterday now considering it is past midnight) is dads birthday. He turned 65. So we went over to his place. Not a big deal you might think? Dad and me havent spoken for around 1.5 years so it was very special for us. Dad has a way of ignoring things tho, "if we don't speak about it, it never happened" so we never mentioned how long it has been since we spoke.
Today/yesterday was also mine and Thomas 4th engagement anniversary. We got engaged on Halloween. Of course. Felt a bit strange spending all the day with dad, but we got alot of hugging and snuggling done aswell. And soon it is 5 years since we first met (yeah yeah, I know. We got engaged pretty fast...). Time moves on quick.

Work, work, work
So, the Media Markt store I work in celebrate 2 years. Too bad first day of celebration was day before the paycheck arrives. Yesterday was beyond dull. But we kept busy. Putting up new stuff in the shelves, fixing and cleaning and things like that.
Yesterday was the first of seven straight workdays. Taking it one day at the time, trying not to overthink it. However, I guess blogging about it counts as thinking about it. Ah well.
I am really enjoying work right now however, even when its alot of it. Most of the people are nice and.. well, thats all you can expect isn't it? At a workplace that big you can't love everyone. Only problem with a work place that big, people keep chatting to you in the lunch room even when you try to read. Poor me. Luxuary problems.
Time to get dressed and things like that. Prepare lunch box (I got my lunch box and I'm armed real well).

Another movie night!
Last night me and Thomas thought we would watch Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. That was not a good idea. We did manage to watch around five minutes, then we both looked at eachother and then turned it off. Some movies should never have been made. I have seen (or tried to) worse movies however. The awful movie called D-Wars for example. They keep showing it at the TV section at work, it really does suck. The plot did sound good, but the actual movie? Oh dearie me. It was among the worst acting I have ever seen, the CGI was laughable and the story seemed to have been cut with a hedge saw. I think we managed around 30-45 minutes of that one.
Then we have the amazing crap like 30 Days of Night. Again, the idea sounded good. Of course a place where the sun wont come up for 30 days must be a paradise for vampires. But again they ruined it. It was laughable "it is dark so no one can reach us". Oh yes, cause planes never take off in night, right? 15 minutes, then we turned off that crap.
Last night we watched the new Star Trek movie instead. I am not a trekkie, never have been. I did watch a few episodes of Deep Space Nine and liked it but thats about it. I really did enjoy this new movie however. More than I thought I would. Maybe because I have not seen the series before? I don't know. But I did like it.
Sometimes I do fall for the "guy" movies. Like G.I. Joe, it was a kick ass movie! Big explosions and cool car chases! And cool weapons. Don't forget about the cool weapons!
Some day I will learn to shoot!

Romance!
Last night me and Thomas cuddled up on the sofa with a bowl of candy and had a movie night. The theme for the night must surely have been every mans nightmare. Romantic comedies! I am blessed with a husband that can actually enjoy the brainless romantic movies where you know exactly how everything will end. Sometimes those kind of movies are just what you need.
We started the evening off with The Proposal and boy did that remind me why I never been fond of Sandra Bullock. When you see a romantic comedy and go "why on earth with anyone fall in love with her?" they have failed. Why her character would fall in love with Ryan Reynolds character was understandable, but not the other way around. So, we were off to a slow start.
Second movie was The Ugly Truth with Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler. I have never been into Grey's Anatomy but Heigl I do like in romantic comedies. And Gerard Butler... well, him I just like! This movie was what a romantic comedy should be, predictable, sweet, funny and you did see why the characters would fall in love. Brainless, of course but it left you with a smile on your face.
Third and last movie was My Life in Ruins. This is the "older" kind of romantic comedy. Not as much about sex as many other movies. Once again, sweet and predictable. Quite charming. It also did me want to go to Greece very, very much. This girl likes old ruins and visiting churches and museums.
Romance on movies I do like. But in real life? I have told Thomas that if he ever calls the radio to dedicate a song to me, I will assume he wants a divorce. If he came home with flowers one day for no good reason, well, I would not think he is cheating on me. However, I would think "oh, so it was 50% off on flowers today eh?". Cynical? Me? Never!
Thomas does the cute things of course. "Welcome home sweetie, I bought you some chocolate". Sweet, no? Well, if you translate it to guy language it usually means "Hi, I bought some beer and/or candy for myself so I bought this for you so that you wont be upset". Not as sweet anymore now is it?
Well, my husband can be romantic, of course he can. Not so much the time he gave me a set of salt and pepper grinders for Valentine's Day but he can be. I prefer the "I have made dinner and here is a glass of wine" kind of romance over "I bought you 100 red flowers and lit candles all over the room" kind of romance. And now I feel myself I am just babbling so I will wrap it up for today.
By the way, I do love my husband. Even if he sometimes is as romantic as a rock.

Two authors I love
Books are the love of my life. Here my husband will grumble a little but he knows how much books mean to me. So today I thought I would spend some time to give reading suggestions. I went to my book shelf to have a look and pondered what to tell people to read. I realised that I got a wide mix of books in it, but two authors do take up quite a bit of space in my book shelf.
Dean Koontz
I am still on a mission to get all his books, but he has written damn much over the years. "What does he write?" do you ask. Well, he mixes genres alot, its thriller, romance, horror and part science fiction. Looking at books like "Winter Moon", "Phantoms" and "Whispers" are really creepy while books such as "Life Expectancy" and the "Odd Thomas"-series are less on the creepy side and more on the thriller side. There are so many books I can go through them all but this is an author I do encourage people to read. (Hey, even Stephen King calls Koonz the best suspense author of our time.)
J K Rowling
Harry Potter. Of course. It took me a long time to actually read the first Harry Potter book but once I did I was hooked. I have read them, and re-read them. And listened to the audio books several times (English version, not silly american version) and of course watched all the movies. It is magic, what's not to like? I do not really see them as kids books either, because some of them are really dark and people usually don't die as much in kids books.
In time I will suggest more authors, more books but this is it for today. If you don't like books.. just move along. I will not take discussions about the books I love. I am way too protective of them. Silly but true!

Things you find at 5 am
Nothing is as fun as it being 4am (well, 4.30 now) and not being able to sleep. At least my neighbours seem to have quiet down some, they were discussing very loudly and I have no idea why they do that at this time of day. Even more so when it didn't seem to be fighting or anything. Who discusses company stuff loudly at 4am? Really? Me wonders how drunk they are.
What do you do when it is 5 (yes, this post took awhile) and you can not sleep? Well, for me I started going through pictures and screenshots. And lookie, I found this old screenshot from WoW! Slashet himself quit playing ages ago, so I will post this for people to see. This is what happens when people log on drunk. Or in Slash's case... extremely drunk.
This is cut together, cause he did babble for quite some time. Surely, this is mostly funny to gamers. And the "bird" part, would be Slashet transformed into a bat during that years halloween event. I still find it funny. I am a nerd though so that might be why. And btw Flaurence, I got a screenie from when you were drunk aswell!
Neighbours seem to have fallen asleep, or passed out. Same same but different.

Froggy love
It all started when I played EverQuest all those years ago. I played a froglok, in other words a pink frog that could walk on two legs. She was amazingly cute and of course got put through alot of teasing. Frog legs joke get boring after awhile, just so you know! I posted a picture on her on the first Gaming post if anyone is curious.
That is where my love of frogs started. I kept defending her against evil french frog eaters for so long I grew fond of both her and the wonderful animal she was based on. And so it started, I started collecting frogs. I do not have that many, even though I would love more it is hard to find really pretty frogs. Here is a post of a part of my frogs, lacking a few candles and cards and things like that. (Winnie the Pooh is there becaue he got a frog on his head)
As you see it is not easy to take picture at my place, Emeriss was way too nosy about the frog chime that I got from Jonna and Sven (loooove it).
At the front of the first picture you see the specially made frog couple that sat on our wedding cake. It is handmade, both frogs with glasses just like me and Thomas and her roses to match the few roses I had. I am happy to have a husband wonderful enough to let his wife-to-be crown their wedding cake with frogs!
So, if you find cute frogs of any kind, send them my way!

Day of the cinnamon bun
We swedes got strange days. Today it is the day of the cinnamon bun. I love baking, so I saw that as an excuse to bake! Thomas prefer vanilla buns and as the wonderful wife I am I let him do them even tho it isn't their day today!
Sven came over with Figaro (mr dog) and after some oven pancake we got down to the baking. My lovely little machine did most of the work with the dough and we sat slacking watching WoW movies while we waited for the dough to rise (The Brothers Tauren is still a very fun movie). Once the dough was ready we got down to the real work. However, Thomas was a slacker and let me and Sven do most of the work. He just sprinkled some vanilla sugar on his and that was about it.
It was great fun, baking with company is always nicer than doing it all alone. And the buns turned out wonderful (mine looked best, of course) and tasted perfect!
Here is the finished result of our effort:
Now I wonder, when is "Day of the pizza"?

I am back again!
So I haven't been writing here for ages but me thinks it is time to start again. First off, I am a good girl! I finally started using the gym again and I feel alot better with myself for it.
More news, well. I been working at Media Markt for two years now but only very little. Enough to get by but not much more than that. Now I got 75% for awhile at least. Not sure how long it will last but it will be wonderful for as long as I have it.
As you already noticed, this is a "catching up" post. So moving on to the ingame world. I left my beloved Gatekeepers. It felt really strange doing it to be honest but since I did not raid with them anyway I did not feel that I belonged anymore. I don't think that a hardcore raiding guild is where you should be if you are casual. I left an evening with like 20 people online, one of them said anything to me. It did make me realise I had absolutely made the right choice.
Returning to Protectorate (much love for them for wanting/letting me back) was like entering a different world. Those guys sure can make you feel appreciated. And since I returned I have had the best time! I have started pvping on my deathknight Gryning and I must say... I really suck at it. It is loads of fun however, me and Thomas play with Sven daily.
I also re-connected with someone I haven't spoken to since december so that feels wonderful. I had not realised how much I had missed him.
This is it for now. I will try to start writing here again, not that I think you have missed me. But still.

My town
When you are in your teens, you usually want away from wherever you live. So did I. I could not stand the thought of living in Norrköping one second more than needed. Now, 10 or so years later I would prefer not to leave. Maybe I have to for work, but even then I would hope to come back some day.
I will not be writing much today, because its early, I am tired, I need to head to work and... these pictures will say it all. This is of one of my favourite parts of town, the old industrial area where Holmen and Tuppen and many others had big factorys. Now it is transformed to museeums and university and it is beautiful!
This is my town.

When idols die
Even though I myself aren't a Michael Jackson fan I can still see it as a big loss when a person like that dies. Someone that has been an idol for millions. And the other day it happened again when Patrick Swayze passed away due to cancer.
In a world where celebreties are everywhere, of course it means more when we loose them. They aren't just a flicker on the screen, even if we don't care the media will gladly let us know the color of their boxershorts and what they had for breakfast. Quite a few also reach outside their own little corner of the public world. They go into politics, collect money for the poor, they are the faces for makeup and clothes as well as the UN.
I been thinking about it before, and I can't really imagine a world with no Sean Connery. No Clint Eastwood. No Anthony Hopkins. Even though both MJ and Swayze died young it feels like it has slowly started. The passing away of the big ones. The ones you grew up watching. I guess todays star will mean as much to the kids in 10-20 years. But somehow I can not compare the likes of Shia LaBeouf and (yes, I know I am a fan but still) Robert Pattinson the the amazing acting of Connery and Hopkins.
About mr Swayze though. Even I am a Dirty Dancing fan, that isn't what I feel like watching. I need to re-watch The Outsiders!

TV shows again!
So, now it is finally starting again. TV shows! We are off to a slow start with the season 5 premiere of Supernatural and the start of the new show The Vampire Diaries.
Lets start from the beginning. Supernatural! I want next weeks episode now! I have been longing for this show and it did not let me down. Of course part of me miss the first season when they were off hunting supernatural legends all over the US but on the other hand, 5 seasons of only that would be boring after awhile so I do understand why they push it in another direction. Plus Dean is kinda... nice to look at. Very nice.
About Vampire Diaries. I read the books back when I was 16 or so, and even then they felt rather silly. The sort of innocent sweet teenagers you see in High School Musical and did not feel realistic at all. The TV show though, they made it loads better. It isnt the silly childish thing anymore. So far, it seems very promising. And the vampires are kinda sexy! Sexy vampires are all I care about!
Talking about sexy vampires, I am SO looking forward to New Moon in November. I just hope I can get to watch it without all the screaming little girls.
